2009 Hoops for Hope: Raleigh Radiology proudly supports Wolfpack athletics and Kay Yow foundation

On Valentine’s weekend of 2009, Raleigh Radiology again proudly sponsored the now bittersweet fundraiser started by one of the triangle’s most influential and respected individuals. On Sunday February 15th, the NC State University Women’s Basketball team held their annual breast cancer benefit game to raise money for research. The Hoops for Hope was started by none other than the basketball coach herself Kay Yow who sadly but courageously lost her battle to breast cancer just a short time before the benefit. Yow has been a local and national staple in the movement for breast cancer awareness and this event has continued to grow with over 10,000 in attendance for this year’s game. Raleigh Radiology's marketing team was there in proud sponsorship for the event and athletic program handing out seat cushions and information for attendees. Nonetheless, this event was held to help raise the community awareness of breast cancer and to not mourn, but celebrate the loss of one of its most recognizable faces. WRAL-TV Health team: Open Bore MRI at Raleigh Radiology provides patients a more comfortable exam

On December 4, 2008, Dr. Allen Mask of WRAL-TV visited Raleigh Radiology Cedarhurst to cover a health story on the advancement of quality with Open Bore MRI while better serving claustrophobic and bariatric patients. Roger Judd, a recent patient of Raleigh Radiology Cedarhurst, attempted several other MRI scans at other facilities and was unable to complete the exam due to his claustrophobia. Judd; however, underwent a recent scan at Raleigh Radiology Cedarhurst without any problems. The High-field 1.5 Tesla Open Bore MRI provides the same strength and quality of conventional MRI scanners, while providing patients a wider and shorter opening similar to that of a CT scanner. High Field Open Bore MRI is offered at the Cedarhurst and Blue Ridge locations.

WRAL-TV Health team: How ultrasound is used in medicine

An estimated 26 million Americans have chronic kidney disease. On July 31, 2008, Dr. Allen Mask of WRAL-TV 5 on your side health-team, decided to utilize his personal experience to educate viewers about the use of ultrasound in medicine on these patients. Ultrasound, a simple, painless, and non-invasive test can prevent kidney failure in patients. Raleigh Radiology Cedarhurst’s Ultrasonographer Katie Chase, ARDMS, RVT performed Dr. Mask’s exam and discussed the advancement in ultrasound technology. Dr. Mask briefly reviewed and discussed his results with radiologist, Dr. Gregory Hinn.
