A Message To All Referring Providers

Our radiology practices have collaborated to bring this important issue to your attention.

CMS recently published a transmittal that provides specific requirements associated with authenticating orders for tests. To encourage and implement best practice for our orders, we will be utilizing these guidelines for all payors. In confirming its position, CMS specifically states:

“For medical review purposes, Medicare requires that services provided/ordered be authenticated by the author. The method used shall be a hand written or an electronic signature. Stamp signatures are not acceptable.”

Raleigh Radiology is pleased to announce Dr. Kirk Peterson has joined the practice.

Dr. Peterson received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. He completed his radiology residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at Duke this summer.

Dr. Kirk Peterson specializes in body imaging and general diagnostic radiology.

Raleigh Radiology enjoys being an active participant in the Race for the Cure every year. On Saturday, June 12th 2010 the physicians and staff at Raleigh Radiology showed  support by wearing hot pink t-shirts and providing bright green bags to participants supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. Team Raleigh Radiology had 65 strong members that either ran or walked the race or helped inform the public about screening mammograms and the importance of early detection. With over 911 registered teams at the race, Susan G Komen for the cure is close to reaching the 2 million dollar fundraising goal in 2010. The final count will be held on July 15th! The Rex Hospital Open took place the week of May 17th through May 23rd at TPC Wakefield Plantation. Raleigh Radiology being a founding sponsor had a hospitality tent on the 10th hole on Wednesday, May 19th. Raleigh Radiology staff from the various offices handed out refreshments. It was an enjoyable day on the golf course. Drs. Detweiler, Mathan, Weber, and Browne all participated in the event. Please check the photos out on our Facebook page. The Rex Hospital Open has generated over 5.4 million dollars over the past 22 years which supports programs and services at Rex. This year’s proceeds will benefit the Rex Cancer Center through the Rex Hospital Foundation. This is an official week long event on the PGA tour. This year’s winner was John Riegger.
