Dr. Michael Hollingshead believes in the importance of collaboration, making it a habit to partner with his colleagues daily. “I value the ability to ask people for help or input,” he says, believing that cooperation and consultation are essential for healthcare providers. As someone involved in recruiting new doctors and staff, he emphasizes this cooperation when speaking to potential recruits as a great benefit. Having been at Raleigh Radiology for 15 years, his belief in maintaining excellence in patient care is a priority. His patients appreciate his honesty and openness in listening to their concerns. “The challenge,” Dr. Hollingshead mentions, “comes when discussing procedures and diagnoses with patients. Sometimes you’re giving good news, but knowing how a diagnosis may impact someone facing that for the first time can be difficult.” Collaborating ensures that a confident, well-thought-out, patient-focused treatment plan is a reality.
As the father of three boys, Michael enjoys family time at dinner and during family travel outside of work. In addition, he spends a lot of time at his sons’ sporting events as they wrestle and play lacrosse and football. His focus at home is fast becoming ‘collaborating’ with his family on transitioning his sons from home to college as the oldest one graduates from high school this year. Collaboration is vital to Michael inside and outside of work, and he is an expert at working towards successful outcomes in both worlds.
