Uterine Fibroid Embolization
Treating Fibroids with a Flip of a Wrist
Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive treatment for women who suffer from the symptoms of uterine fibroids. At Raleigh Radiology, our interventional radiologists specialize in this procedure, helping women find relief and improve their quality of life—without the need for surgery or hysterectomy.
Our interventional radiologists will review your health history and symptoms to determine if UFE is the best treatment for you during a consultation at our Midtown office.
What are Uterine Fibroids?
Uterine fibroids are benign (noncancerous) growths that develop in the muscular wall of the uterus. While not all fibroids cause problems, some women experience symptoms that can significantly impact daily life, including:
- Pelvic pain or pressure
- Heavy, prolonged monthly periods or irregular bleeding
- Fatigue caused by anemia (low red blood cell count)
- Frequent urination or urinary urgency
- Constipation
- Pain during sexual intercourse
Clinical Benefits of UFE
- Minimally invasive, no surgical incision
- Preserves the uterus
- Short recovery time
- Lower complication rate compared to surgery
- Effective symptom relief for the majority of patients
